For those of you who received the fat envelope and for those who received the thin one, the NY Times has a great op-ed piece focused on college admissions . David Page, the author, points out that the criteria used to determine acceptability to college will never ever again be used to judge the students now having their egos pummeled or boosted by the contents of the incoming mail. He magnifies his educational heresy by claiming that one does not have to go to an Ivy League undergrad school to be successful. His point is very well taken on the college level, and probably even relevant for those hearing from the graduate schools, too.
As important as the admissions process is, Page urges us keep some perspective on it.
