Tuition Increases Start to Slow

In an extraordinary example of spin, The Wall St. Journal has managed to look at the continuing rise in college tuition from the most positive perspective: The rate of increase is slowing but still continuing at a rate that exceeds the rate of inflation.

A few highlights:

  • On average, public-college tuition will increase 8% this year.
  • Tuition will increase at private colleges and universities at an average rate of 5.7%.
